The Players' History

Formed in 1966 by three friends who had recently moved into the area, the group aimed to bring like-minded people together and create drama within the community of the village.

Since then the group has gone from strength to strength producing well over 80 productions over the last 41 years.

Plays staged include

Season's Greetings, Caught At The Hop, Murdered To Death, The Importance Of Being Ernest

Pantomimes and Plays for young people include

Aladdin, Cinderella, Goldilocks & The Three Bears, Ali Baba & The 40 Thieves, Eric & The Round Table, Ernie's Incredible Illuscinations, Jack & The Beanstalk, Robin Hood, Babes In The Wood, The Little Mermaid, The Wizard Of Oz, Dick Whittington & Puss In Boots.

"Cinderella" by TLC Creative

Many thanks to all who was involved with or came to support the show. It was a great success. Please see a copy of the review below from the Bath Chronicle on Saturday 24th Feb.

"If ever there was a show that proved that size isn't everything, this is it.This version may only have a cast of 12, but it is hugely entertaining and had its local community in stitches.

It's also wonderfully inventive - the best joke of the evening occurs in the ball scene, obviously something of a challenge for a small-scale production, but one that is carried off with aplomb.

The comic content of the show is the most significant, partly thanks to a pair of wildly over-the-top ugly sisters, played by Ian Matthews and Darryl Almond.

Luke John Emmett - director, musical director, choreographer, lighting and sound designer - also deserves praise for his portrayal of Buttons.

The other outstanding reason for the show's success is Kirsty Hibbert, as Cinderella. She's only ten and her tininess makes the grossness of the Ugly Sisters even more evident.

Some of the jokes are distinctly creaky but overall it's a production with bags in it for all ages. The show finishes tonight. For tickets call 859974"
